Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato portray issues many would start thinking about unsavory, but the filmmakers make a point of treating all of them with self-esteem and value. Their own documentaries consist of flicks such as The attention of Tammy Faye, concerning televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, and 101 Rent men, about hustlers on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Their own latest production was School’s Out: The Life of a Gay twelfth grade in Colorado, airing this evening as an element of MTV’s True Life documentary show. The scholars at Walt Whitman highschool in Dallas — the country’s best specifically gay private senior school outside L. A. and Manhattan — might have a hard time in a normal public school.
